Obedience Class

This group course meets one night a week for 6 consecutive weeks on Tuesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

We will also work on the 10 steps for Canine Good Citizen test, which you will be tested on at the end of the class. The Canine Good Citizen Program teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners. The 10-step CGC test is a non-competitive test for all dogs, including purebreds and mixed breeds.

The CGC test items are:

Accepting a friendly stranger
Sitting politely for petting
Appearance and grooming
Walking on a loose leash
Walking through a crowd
Sit and down on command and Staying in place
Coming when called
Reaction to another dog
Reaction to distraction
Supervised separation, lasting 3 minutes

After you have passed the test you can receive the certification from the American Kennel Club (AKC) for a cost of $10.00. Starlite has a patch for CGC for a cost of $4.00.
